Project C: Conceptual Image

For Project C we were asked to pick a social, political or cultural theme to use as a source of inspiration for a poster. I chose the issue of Marriage Equality, it’s something I’ve been fighting for since, well, forever I guess. It’s an unfortunate truth that some people believe marriage is reserved for straight people only and that the rights and benefits of marriage be reserved as well. To deny these rights is not only unconstitutional, it’s also inhumane. Thankfully we have come a long way in the past years and marriage equality is almost recognized in every state and at the federal level. It’s because of the good hard working people over at www.marriageequality.org and many other volunteers and supporters throughout the country that this issue will soon be laid to rest.

MIND MAP'N! OHYA

Couple of sketches

When I brainstormed with Rafael, he thought the straight forward approach would be best.
Use iconographies of men and women to make an immediate connection with the audience.
Sadly I had to make my own icons as I could not find any same sex icons on the internet.

Added texture to the background.

Finished product with website.

I had such a blast doing this project. Unfortunately my skill level with the Adobe suite is at a 1 and my ideas are at a 10. Feels like I’m learning a foreign language sometimes. Can’t wait to hone my craft so I can redo these posters and get closer to the design I have in my head. Never-the-less, I believe the message is clear and thats what really matters.
